Oak Class - Year 5 and 6

Welcome to Oak class!

We are the Year 5/6 class at Ingham Primary School. This year we will be studying a variety of fascinating topics in our lessons: Crime and Punishment, Out of this World (space), World War 2, We are awesome and Tale as Old as Time. We will enhance our learning through a residential visit to Castleton and a visit to the National Holocaust Centre. Linked to these topics we will read some engaging texts including Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, Cosmic, Tuesday, Goodnight Mr Tom, The Amazing Thing that Happened to Barnaby Brockett and Boy Giant: Son of Gulliver.

Reminders

  • ·Our homework is set on Fridays and due back in on Wednesday. This is usually a set of spellings linked to the pattern previously taught in class, a grammar and punctuation task and a maths task linked to this week’s learning.
  • ·Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Pupils should come to school in their PE kit on these days – please note that only stud earrings are allowed and must be covered in earring tape for our PE lessons and that long hair is tied back.
  • We encourage children to read their reading book every day and to log on to Times Tables Rock Stars – 3 minutes a day is all it takes to improve your tables! Please encourage your child to bring their reading book to school every day.

Keep up-to-date with our learning progress on our Class Dojo blog.
