Welcome to Oak Class – Opportunities, Adventures and Kindness! We are Year 5 and Year 6 at Ingham Primary School, and we have an innovative curriculum which allows us to explore the world from our classroom. Some of our exciting topics include Space exploration, WW2 and the Mayan civilisation; we also journey deep into the realms of children’s literature in our novel study of books such as Cogheart, The Terrible Thing that Happened to Barnaby Brocket, and Wolf Brother. We love writing in Oak class; keep an eye on our blog for our latest work. Our Maths curriculum allows deep understanding of core mathematical contexts which we can then use as a springboard for problem-solving and developing our own mathematical thinking. Science in Oak Class gives us the opportunity to experience life as a real scientist through practical investigations and deep discussion based on our skills and knowledge.
• Homework is handed out on a Thursday and due back next Tuesday.
• PE kits should come into school on a Monday morning and go home again on a Friday.
• Please try to read with your child as often as possible; the impact this will have on your child’s vocabulary development is huge.
• Children should have their reading book in school every day – we’ll be taking every opportunity we can to dive into our books.
