The whole school had a fantastic aroma this afternoon, as half the children in the school took on the task of bread making. The children helped to measure, stir and need the dough. There were lots of opportunities for scientific enquiry as the children noticed how the butter floated on the milk, how the yeast went frothy and how when the dry and wet ingredients mixed we created a new stretchy material and then how it doubled in size as we left it to rise in a warm place. The children who chose to make plaited bread practiced their plaiting skills using play dough while we waited for the dough to prove. All the children brought home a sample of the bread they made to share with their families at home. We hope you enjoy it!
