Fir is the first class in the school, where the youngest children learn to work and play.

The children learn about the school expectations and how to get along with each other, take turns and share and be sensitive to other children's needs and interests. We try to be led by the interests of our pupils and let them drive the themes and activities each term. We learn about the world around us through first hand experiences. The children have access to play activities both inside and outside the classroom to stimulate the children's interests. We teach phonics using the Ruth Miskin Scheme 'Read Write Inc' this helps them to link sounds to letters and apply these to reading and writing.

This term our topic is 'Stomp, Fly and Crawl' which involves minibeasts and dinosaurs.
