I was born and educated in Lincolnshire and have lived locally most of my life. I have three girls who attend Ingham Primary School. I have worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for 16 years and hopefully use some of this experience in fulfilling my role as governor. Outside of work I love sport, particularly football.

I have been a governor at Ingham School since January 2005. I have lived in Ingham for almost 15 years and have felt privileged to be part of the community. Although retired now I have been in the teaching profession for 32 years, initially as a primary school teacher then as a special needs support teacher and senco. My own 3 children all went to university and are pursuing their chosen careers. Six grandchildren aged between 2 and 7 years are presently keeping me in touch with young children. My interests include reading, cooking, tennis, skiing and travelling.

I have been a governor at Ingham School since 1988 starting as a parent governor and now am appointed by the LEA.  Both my two children attended the school and, thanks to the great start Ingham gave them, are currently employed, one as a teacher and the other as transportation project manager working recently for the London Olympics.   I work as a management consultant and try to bring this experience to the school.  Outside of work I love to play golf, walk and read.

I have recently been appointed as a governor at Ingham school and have lived in Ingham for over 17 years. I am married to Steve and have two grown up children now 21 and 24 who have both progressed to university from schools within Ingham, Lincoln, and Welton. We have ,also, sponsored the education of children in third world countries for the last 30 years. My career, since leaving university, has always been involved in learning and development in various senior roles and I have always had a passion for quality education and, especially, supporting children’s education. Outside of work, whenever I find a spare moment, I continue to renovate our ancient house and garden, and play as a cellist with the British Police Symphony Orchestra

An important part of being a Headteacher is reporting to governors and planning with them the strategic direction of the school.  Governor's role is to assist the Headteacher to:

  • set the aims and objectives for the school;
  • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives;
  • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives;
  • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives;

and to be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend).

This is a vital part of my role and helps to ensure that we get the best possible outcomes for our children.

I am the proud father of two children at Ingham School (with my third just starting at preschool this autumn) and really wanted an opportunity to offer something back to this excellent school. We have lived in Ingham since 2009, when I moved to the area to complete my GP speciality training programme. I am now a GP partner at a local village practice.

I have been a teacher of post 16 education for 17 years and although still teaching,  I am also an associate assistant principal of a large 6th form college. I have previously been chair of the Little Acorns pre-school and I am currently serving my 5th year as staff governor at my own educational institution. As well as finding my involvement with education across all sectors rewarding and fulfilling, I also have two children at Ingham School. I have a strong educational background and experience in supporting learners with their progress and hope to pass this knowledge on through this governor role so that all children at a Ingham School continue to enjoy their time here and move on to pastures new with confidence.
